So whith no one on the walls, towers should be busted to lower causalities for your sally into the castle, these archers use there cream of the crop throwback skills to just pepper the enemy. ![]() they have really good range oddly enough and can shoot up and over walls quite well. Now once you pick off the walls you still got the ones on horseback or the miltia spearman garison that won't go on the walls to be shot, they will run when fired on by arty so its a pain if your not manualy firing to thin them out. You shell the crap out of the gate houses, nail any wall they got men on, line up sharshooters just outside the infantrys reach in long lines, if you got kneel and shoot 2 deep other wise as close to a one deep as you can get. Ships near by, Cannons the higher tier the better, sharpshooters, and of all random things bowmen. Oh and most messed up lazy combo for Fall of the Samurai, you need to turn the battle timer off more or less, or set it to one hour. Note I bearly touched napleon but own both, got it in a bundle a few years ago, and was more hooked on Empire if you couldn't tell lol Now if shogun 2 had defensise that would be great, but alas its just Emprie, and Rome 2 that let your set up defences when digging in. But the naval shellings make it a little too easy if your patiant at the start of a match, especialy before you get good cannons, and after you get the abilty to make cannon, its just gravey on the cake I never send in anything minus sharpshooters before the cannons, and naval bomberdments run out of ammo. Only ground breaking thing in Fall of the Samurai is the naval bombdment, and abilty to climb walls. You can also hop in a building, for cover, and if defending set up steaks, dirt mounds for cannon cover, and sand bag your cannons for protection. Also the forts have cannons in the walls that infantry can man, its nice since you know most likely they were be cannons aimed at said walls. Empire is a lot more grindy though, wich I think is why people like Napolean more, its the waterdown multiplayer version. Plus the upgrades, the baynets are a must, to counter calvery, and the ammo upgrades for artilerly are epic. ![]() ![]() Empire was the last one with truly unique gunpowder units, the Russian Hand Motors for instnace, not the greatest but nothing like that exists for the rest. Unique units were few and just upgrades to a standard unit. Shogun 2 fall of the samurai is the number 2 for me, a lot of good stuff, but still has the Shogun 2 problem of most of the units just being cookie cutters. Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun – the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.Empire (napolean waterdown but most the same features) has the most to it, its almost too much. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun. The others will die by his sword. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. ![]() In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided.
